Training

  Megan Ellis on Professional Development

I feel that the work experiences I have received at Foley have greatly contributed to my professional development. I believe the opportunities I have been given here far exceed what most second year associates have been exposed to.

At Foley, we understand that training is a necessary tool for current and future success. We’re deeply committed to developing and maintaining professional training programs that will teach you critical skills and help make you a more well-rounded lawyer.

Developed by our Professional Development Committee and Director of Professional Development, we consider our comprehensive departmental and skill training programs to be second-to-none. Each department identifies the core skills its lawyers need, sets a schedule for when those skills should be in place, and makes available the opportunities to acquire them. Everything is specifically tailored to your individual needs.

All our training programs reflect some basic principles and characteristics. We identify the skills you need to succeed within the firm and develop a workable schedule to accomplish your training. We give you projects where you learn hands-on skills, and introduce you to other projects where you can train without regard to billable hours. We offer solid budgetary support for training, including outside seminars. We also make sure there is full communication about the programs available within and between departments, including feedback to help improve existing programs.
