Case Studies

Major League Baseball

Today, Foley & Lardner serves as the principal outside counsel for Major League Baseball. We represent the League and its Commissioner in a variety of issues, providing strategic planning and legal work on matters such as taxation, technology and consulting agreements, licensing, trademark and antitrust litigation. Foley also provides legal counsel regarding contraction, bankruptcy and Club ownership. To understand just how diverse these cases can be, read about some of our recent work for Major League Baseball.

Coors Brewing Company

At Foley, our litigation philosophy is to provide our clients with the most comprehensive legal advice available. Our attorneys cover all available options and work in tandem with our clients to decide upon the best course of action. In short, we focus on the complete solution. A strong example of our litigation philosophy in action can be found in our work for Coors Brewing Company (“Coors”). Foley has been national distribution counsel for Coors since 1995. The firm has counseled Coors at the front end of disputes to avoid litigation, as well as carefully guided Coors through complex litigation.

Northland Cranberries

Cultivating client relationships is a lot like cultivating cranberries — they both require growing time, frequent attention and quality assurance. At Foley, we pride ourselves on the longevity of our client relationships, as well as on the enduring quality of those relationships. And our relationship with Northland Cranberries, Inc. is certainly no exception. We’ve served as the general outside counsel since the day Northland opened its doors back in 1987 and we’ve been cultivating the relationship ever since.
